Day 32: Gift of prophecy
1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.
St. John Bosco (1815-1888), the holy Founder of the Salesians foretold events that would take place to people he knew and to many whom he met for the first time. Such was the case in 1853, when a young girl spoke to the Saint of her vocation to the religious state. The Saint hesitated only a moment before replying, “You will have to wait a long time before you can realize your desire, but at last you will join a congregation which was founded in the year of your birth.
Twelve years later the young girl joined the Little Sisters of the Assumption, which had been founded, as the Saint had predicted, in the year of her birth. It is said that the Saint had never met the girl, but perhaps knew of the many difficulties that had detained her so long in the world.
How can I grow in this area?
- Spend time in God’s presence
- Learn to hear God’s voice and discern God’s voice
- Deepen your relationship with God
- Track your progress
- Spend time with other children of God as you are guided by the Holy Spirit
- Ask God to reveal to you His specific grace and gift to build yourself first and then support the body of Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You, recognizing Your infinite love and grace. You are the source of all goodness and the giver of every perfect gift. I beseech You today to activate within me the gifts of the Holy Spirit that I may bear witness to Your love and bring glory to Your name. Use me as a vessel of Your grace to bring light to the darkness and proclaim Your Gospel to the nations.
I ask for the gift of prophecy, that I may discern Your voice and share Your messages with courage and humility. May your words bring encouragement, conviction, and transformation to those who hear them. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
- Litany of the Holy Spirit
- 500 Praises to the Holy Spirit (Pray a few of them as you can)
