Day 42: Holy Spirit, build up the body of Christ
1 Corinthians 12:12-13 As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.
St. Paul tells us that we are one body in Christ, as we were all baptized in one Spirit, though we are many.
“All our religion is but a false religion, and all our virtues are mere illusions and we ourselves are only hypocrites in the sight of God, if we have not that universal charity for everyone – for the good, and for the bad, for the poor and for the rich, and for all those who do us harm as much as those who do us good.”― St. John Vianney
How do we live our lives to reflect that we are one body and in one Spirit?
St. Paul tells us that as one body we should have the same concern for one another. As Jesus taught us that whatever we do to the least of our brethren we do unto Him.
Prayer: Abba Father, we pray for unity in our Church. Lord Jesus, we pray that You fill our hearts with your love and that it overflows to all around us, so that we see You in everyone around us. Come Holy Spirit, fill us with your Holy presence, bind us together as one family, and help us to overcome our indifference to the plight of others.
1 Corinthians 12:25-26 so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If [one] part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy.
