Day 45: Holy Spirit, interceding according to will of God
Romans 8:26-28 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
God knows our limitations and frustrations, He knows that our flesh is weak, even-though our spirit is willing. And so, His Spirit intercedes for us in our needs that cannot be put into words. All that we need to do is, to let go of us, and letting the Holy Spirit to take control of us amidst our challenging circumstances. Obviously, the outcome will be a blessing, because the ‘Holy Spirit intercedes’ according to the ‘Will of God’ which is so perfect and adorable.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
“Don’t allow any sadness to dwell in your soul, for sadness prevents the Holy Spirit from acting freely.” – St. Padre Pio
We should not let our sadness to overtake us, because it will prevent the works of Holy Spirit. Instead, we should turn our gaze from our problems to His Holy face, in perseverance to do the Will of God. Perseverance is not something we do with our own strength, it’s something the Holy Spirit does in us when we yield to Him. Once our gaze is fixed on God, the Spirit of our Lord empowers us to withstand our challenging situations to do His Will, with perseverance and endurance.
Hebrews 10:36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
We cannot offer God anything more pleasing than to say: Take us Lord, we give thee our entire will, only let us know thy will and we will carry it out. “There is nothing more pleasing we can offer God than to say to him: Possess thyself of us.” – St. Augustine
“Perfect love of God means the complete union of our will with God’s.” – St. Alphonsus de Liguori.
Where do I set my gaze? Am I gazing upon things/people I’m attached to? Am I gazing upon the troubles/injustices of this world? Am I thinking too much about what others will think about me and less about what Jesus thinks of my conduct?
“St. Francis Borgia says that he who desires to consecrate himself to God must, in
the first place, trample under his feet all regard for what others will say of him. Oh
my God, why do we not ask what Jesus Christ or His holy mother will think of our
conduct?” – St. Alphonsus Liguori
Let’s pray to our Father, for His Will be done on earth as it is in heaven, through the outpouring of Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Father, I pray that You empower me with the Holy Spirit, to trust in Your supreme
goodness and power. Lord, help me to turn my gaze away from my problems and to fix it constantly on You in perseverance. Fill me with your Spirit of Counsel Lord and guide me in all my ways, that I may always do Thy Holy Will. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen!
Psalm 143:10 - 12 “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
For your name’s sake, Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.”
