Come Holy Spirit

Day 48: Holy Spirit, boldness of Children of God

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken;  and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

Oftentimes we think being a Saint is only for the chosen ones to do big impossible things like St. Joan of Arc, a young peasant girl, who was called by God to lead a French army to victory during the Hundred Years’ War against the English.

However, we are all called to be Saints, to be bold in imitating Christ in both big and small things on a daily basis.

St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta was a nun who worked as a teacher in India for almost 20 years before God called her to care for the poor, and to found her own order, the Missionary of Charity. Mother Teresa showed faithfulness, humility, and boldness with great love to serve the poor, orphaned, and the sick. She never stopped advocating for those who were defenseless and underprivileged.

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” – Mother Teresa

Her love for God and others moved hearts and changed many lives. It all began with her obedience, faithfulness, and boldness to move with the Holy Spirit to do God’s holy will.

Do I walk humbly with the Lord and allow my soul to be nurtured through prayers, Sacred Scripture, and Sacraments?

Do I consistently seek His will in my life?

Do I rely on my own understanding and strength or do I rely on the power of the Holy Spirit within me?

Prayer: Our Father in Heaven, help us to know Your holy will in our lives.  Fill us with Your love and Your Spirit that gives us the strength and boldness to be the ambassador of Christ. All for Your honor, glory, and praise, forever and ever. Amen.

“for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control.” -(2 Timothy 1:7)
