Come Holy Spirit

Day 50: Holy Spirit, fulfill the will of the Father.

Veni Sancte Spiritus!

May it please the supreme and divine Goodness to give us all abundant grace ever to know his most holy will and perfectly to fulfill it. — St. Ignatius of Loyola

“No one will have any other desire in heaven than what God wills; and the desire of one will be the desire of all; and the desire of all and of each one will also be the desire of God.” – St. Anselm

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He taught them to pray for the Father’s will to be done on earth as in heaven.

Mathew 6:10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

During His agony in the garden, Jesus prayed. saying,  Luke 22:46 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.” Even during His agony Jesus prayed for the Father’s will.

Mary (Mother of Jesus) perfectly fulfilled her purpose according to the Father’s plan.

Luke 1:38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word”

So did St Joseph perfectly fulfill the Father’s will. The apostles of the Lord after His ascension carried forward the Father’s mission and plan by the power of the Holy Spirit, promise of the Father.

According to the plan of God, each child of God has a unique mission, purpose that has to be fulfilled in their life by the power of the Holy Spirit, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Each one of us is required to pray to the Holy Spirit for wisdom, counsel and guidance to lead us each day according to the Father’s plan. Pray for strength and courage to fulfill the Father’s purpose by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We need to pray to the Holy Spirit to renew our minds, our hearts, and ask for the gift of grace, fortitude and perseverance to overcome any obstacles along the way. Holy Spirit’s  power, love and truth must reign over us and all of our affections and actions.

Luke 2:25 – 30 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation.

Then we can say like Simeon, “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation.“

Jesus says, John 19:30 “..It is finished”

The whole purpose of our life here on earth is to accomplish the Father’s will. To walk humbly with God, in His commandments, in truth, to know and love Him and give thanks always.  When we are in the Father’s plan and in His will, in His word  – we have heaven on earth in our hearts.

Do I seek and pray for the Father’s will in my life?

Do I pray for His will to be perfectly done in all things, great and small alike?

Do I see all things according to the Father’s plan?

Come Holy Spirit animate my life.  Come Holy Spirit, help me see all things with the Lords eyes and unfold the Lord’s plan for me.  Come Holy Spirit, help me fulfill the Father’s plan each moment of my life. Like Mary help me pray – may it be done unto me according to Your word.  Like Jesus help me pray – Father Your kingdom come, Your will be done.  And like Simeon, I shall proclaim – According to Your word, my eyes have seen Your salvation.

Father fulfill Your plan in me.

Prayer: Lord, grant that I may always allow myself to be guided by You,  Always follow Your plans, And perfectly accomplish Your holy will.  Grant that in all things, great and small,  Today and all the days of my life,  I may do whatever You may require of me.  Help me to respond to the slightest prompting of Your grace,  So that I may be your trustworthy instrument, for Your honor.  May your will be done in time and eternity – by me, in me, and through me.  Amen. (St. Teresa of Ávila)

Psalm 103: 20, 21 Bless the Lord, all you his angels, mighty in strength, acting at his behest, obedient to his command. Bless the Lord, all you his hosts, his ministers who carry out his will.
Psalm 104:30 Send forth your spirit, they are created and you renew the face of the earth.
