5. We join our praises with the praises in Heaven – Heaven and earth meet

Rev 4:8-11 Worship in heaven – The four living creatures, each of them with six wings,[h] were covered with eyes inside and out. Day and night they do not stop exclaiming: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come.”  Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who sits on the throne and worship him, who lives forever and ever. They throw down their crowns before the throne, exclaiming: “Worthy are you, Lord our God,  to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things;  because of your will they came to be and were created.”

Catechism of Catholic Church: 2639 Praise is the form of prayer which recognizes most immediately that God is God. It lauds God for his own sake and gives him glory, quite beyond what he does, but simply because HE IS. It shares in the blessed happiness of the pure of heart who love God in faith before seeing him in glory. By praise, the Spirit is joined to our spirits to bear witness that we are children of God,testifying to the only Son in whom we are adopted and by whom we glorify the Father. Praise embraces the other forms of prayer and carries them toward him who is its source and goal: the “one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist.

According to CCC, 2639, by praising God

  • We recognize God is God and above everything
  • We glorify God
  • Holy Spirit is joined to our spirit
  • We testify to Jesus Christ through whom we are adopted.
  • We bear witness that we children of God
  • We testify to God’s greatness
  • Our prayers are carried to God – source of all things and for whom we exist
