Word of God – prepare my heart and dwell in me

1. Gratitude for the goodness of God & the Incarnation of the Word:

He has been manifested in a human body for this reason only, out of the love and goodness of His Father, for the salvation of us men. (On the Incarnation of the Word, St Athanasius of Alexandria, Chapter 1, Creation & fall)

There were thus two things which the Savior did for us by becoming Man. He banished death from us and made us anew; and, invisible and imperceptible as in Himself He is, He became visible through His works and revealed Himself as the Word of the Father, the Ruler and King of the whole creation. (On the Incarnation of the Word, St Athanasius of Alexandria, Chapter 3, The Divine Dilemma and its Solution in the Incarnation — continued

God who created all things by His word, sustains all things by His word, moves things by His word,  came down to earth in the human form. What prompted this? His unconditional love for man – true, perfect, holy love of God! God sees and understands the misery, pain, suffering and evil that man encounters. In times past, God heard the cries of His people and God sent Moses to redeem His people out of slavery from Egpyt. Later on, we see God’s people await the promised Messiah to come and to save them.  Seeing the evil man encounters, which is the cause of corruption, confusion, division, defiled minds, and realizing how far man had gone from God, Jesus came down to earth to save man.

Jesus, by His incarnation, passion, death and resurrection has conquered sin, death and every evil.

This same Jesus, who came down to save His people, comes to you by the power of His Spirit, His Word, in the Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament and the sacraments of the church to be with you, and save you.

Jesus understands you much more than anyone else, more than your best friend and even your ownself. Jesus knows all things, sees all things and has overcome all things. His Word sees beyond what you see and has overcome – remain in Him, in His Word. Invite Jesus, His Word into your life to remain in you and lead you according to His plan for you.

Mindful always of God’s unconditional love for man, His generosity, His goodness , let us meditate on the incarnation of the Word, Jesus and let us stand in awe of God and adore Him. With a deep sense of gratitude and reverence let us always keep our hearts fixed on Him, His Word, His love for you and me.

John 1:14 Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

What is something special you are doing for Jesus, who has done and is always doing so much for you?

Pray with the Word of God often and in faith speak the Word of God. Share the Word of God, John 1:14 with your friends, family and may all come to know Him and His Word. In prayer with the Word of God, allow Jesus, His Word to make you new each moment. Allow His Word to form, change and shape you throughout your life.

Pray John 1:14 several times today.

Thank you Jesus for Your Word. I invite You Jesus, Word of God made flesh for me. Come, make Your dwelling in me. Help me to always listen and obey Your Word. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

God grant us grateful hearts, help us recognize the infinite goodness of God towards man and always thank Him for His Word.
