4. Trust, Surrender & Obedience to the Word of God:
Luke 1:38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”
God had not only made them out of nothing, but had also graciously bestowed on them His own life by the grace of the Word. (On the Incarnation of the Word, St Athanasius of Alexandria, Chapter 1, Creation & Fall)
the renewal of creation has been wrought by the Self-same Word Who made it in the beginning. There is thus no inconsistency between creation and salvation for the One Father has employed the same Agent for both works, effecting the salvation of the world through the same Word Who made it in the beginning. (On the Incarnation of the Word, St Athanasius of Alexandria, Chapter 1, Creation & Fall)
The same Word of God which was cause of creation is the same Word of God that came down for salvation of mankind. Mary, Mother of Jesus always believed, was open and obedient to the Word of God.
Am I fully obedient to His Word always?
Do I fully surrender to His Word always?
Do I strive to live according to His Word, allowing His Word to shape me?
Luke 7:7 Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the word and let my servant be healed.
Even when I don’t understand and at times find it hard to accept the Word of truth, am I open to His grace, His Spirit to teach me, to change me, heal my soul and move in me so as to allow Him to work in me always.
Abba, may it always be done unto me according to Your Holy Word and Your Holy Will. Abba, help me surrender to You, and always remain obedient to Your word, even though I may not fully understand in that moment. Only say Your Word and my soul is healed. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
